Young dairy exhibitor

Trygg Stuber, 5, of Westby, answers a question asked by the  Little Britches Dairy Show master of ceremonies Gail Klinkner while his helper, Ellie Fremstad, 11, also of Westby, listens during the Vernon County Fair in 2017.

The Little Britches Dairy Show has been a part of the Vernon County Fair for 28 years, providing fair-goers with a fun photo opportunity and youngsters the chance to experience the show ring.

The show, which is for youth who are too young to show through Junior Fair at fair time, will once again be held in the Hanson Arena, Friday, Sept. 14, at about 12:30 p.m. during the break in the regular showing of dairy cattle. The youngsters will lead an under-4-month-old calf in the show ring and answer a question from “the judge.” Every child receives a ribbon and and a gift.

Calves for the show are brought in Friday morning and taken home in the afternoon.
