The following accidents were reported by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department for the week ending Sept. 10.

9/4 Colin Jacobson, Westby, was traveling westbound on Spring Coulee Road, town of Coon. Due to the heavy rain, Jacobson did not notice the bridge was washed out, and continued across the bridge. Jacobson struck the bottom of the creek, and the vehicle was stuck vertical. Jacobson reported no injuries. The vehicle received disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

9/5 About eight elk were reported loose on Smerud Road, town of Christiana. The owners were notified.

9/8 Troy Koenig, Stoddard, was traveling eastbound on Hwy. K, town of Bergen, and was making a left hand turn, when he was rear ended by Brendan Roe, La Crosse. Both drivers reported no apparent injuries, and their vehicles received minor damage.

9/10 There were zero reportable car/deer crashes.

Sheriff John Spears urges everyone to come out and enjoy the Vernon County Fair taking place at the Vernon County Fairgrounds from Wednesday, Sept. 12 until Sunday, Sept. 16. Spears asks any travelers to use extra caution when driving by the area.
