TOMAH — Glenn Dale Sniff Jr., passed away Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, in the Hospice Care Unit of the Tomah Veterans Medical Center at the age of 90.
He was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Peoria, Ill., to Glenn and Leona (Burgess) Sniff. Of his seven brothers and sisters, he was the last survivor. Glenn is survived by four of his five children, Robert (Merrilee) Sachtjen, Waunakee, Wis., Cathy Sniff, Middleton, Wis., Mark (Terri) Sniff, Phoenix, and Karen (Brad) Foytic, Green Bay, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He served with the U.S. Army in Korea and was a proud veteran. After returning from Korea, he worked in a variety of jobs before retiring from farming in Westby. After retirement he trained trotters and pacers for professional harness racing in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
A graveside memorial service is being planned for a later date in Princeville, Ill.
The family is being assisted by the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home in Tomah, and the Haskell-Hott Funeral Home in Princeville, Ill.
