The Westby Area Historical Society will be sponsoring this free event in the Westby Community Room, on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m.

When you observe a holiday, do you always celebrate with the same foods that Mom, or even Grandma, made? Plan to join us, when author, researcher, professional genealogist and international speaker Liv Marit Haakenstad comes from Norway to share thoughts about those family traditions and more.

Marit will be visiting from Hamar to explain ‘How Norwegians Celebrate Holidays’ with traditional foods, decorations and activities. Perhaps we will find the origins of many Westby traditions that came from Norway with our immigrant relatives many years ago.

In true celebration tradition, the Westby Area Historical Society will be serving rommegrot, coffee and cookies at the special event.
