The La Crosse chapter of Sons of Norway Wergeland Lodge is bringing music and ice cream to the area next week.

Bonnie and Michael Jorgensen will present a concert featuring the music and story of Theodora Cormonton, a Norwegian-American composer. Theodora emigrated from Norway to Minnesota in 1887. The Jorgensens discovered over 150 of her handwritten compositions and some published works in a trunk in 2011. They toured Norway in 2015 where they presented her music and donated the original music scores to the National Library of Norway.

Their concert will feature Bonnie, a professional pianist playing the music and Michael, a professor of music at Gustavus Adolphus College, telling Theodora’s story and singing.

The concert will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 612 Division St., La Crosse.

A pie and ice cream social follows the concert. There will be freewill offerings for the program and refreshments. The public is invited to attend.
