ONALASKA — Bethany Ann (Higdon) Aspenson, 66, of Onalaska passed away Monday, June 26, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving husband, Dennis and her family. Together they fought a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.

Beth was born May 17, 1951, to Margaret (Huber) and Stewart Higdon. A 1969 graduate of West Salem High School, she went on to graduate from cosmetology school.

On Feb. 28, 1970, Beth married the love of her life, Dennis Aspenson, at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in West Salem. The newlyweds happily started their family soon after their nuptials, and Beth’s life was dedicated to cherishing every moment with Dennis and their three children. She was a great mom!

Beth worked alongside Dennis and their son, lending her artistic advice (sometimes solicited!) on paint colors, furniture and floor plans for their business. She enjoyed anything to do with baking and decorating.

Passionate about entertaining, Beth gave special attention to the elegant details and creation of delicious desserts. Her grandchildren looked forward to every visit with grandma and her homemade treats. Beth truly lived life to its fullest through the simplest of pleasures: visiting with her dear friends, night time adventures in search of “Luna” with her grandkids, watching American Idol with her closest group of friends, and most of all taking long drives with Dennis. Her mischievous sense of humor and her fondness for people had a way of making everyone feel special, notably her six grandkids; she was the best hide and seek player ever!

Beth is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Dennis; her children, Aimee (Tyler) Glaser of Wausau, Wis., Adam (Melissa) Aspenson of Onalaska, and Emily Aspenson of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren, Madeline, Elias, and Stella Glaser, and Kalli, Lilly, and Chloe Aspenson; sisters, Connie (Mike) Jeffers, Jan (Larry) Liles, and Sara (Mike) Gorniak; one brother, Stewart (Sue) Higdon; mother-in-law, Charmaine Aspenson; brother-in-law, Dave Aspenson; and many nieces and nephews.

Beth is preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law.

The family would like to thank, Dr. Paul Molling and Dr. Thomas Loepfe and their teams for the excellent care given to Beth. Also, special thank you to all of Beth’s devoted friends that loved her and stuck by her side through her battle with Alzheimer’s.

All acts of love and kindness are encouraged and appreciated. Please consider giving your time, talents or donations in Beth’s name to your favorite organization.
