Humane society adopt-a-thon set for this weekend
The Coulee Region Humane Society will host its 11th annual Adopt-a-Thon from 1-6 p.m. Friday through Sunday at the shelter’s location, 911 Critter Court in Onalaska.
The event, dubbed Furry Tales Do Come True, will feature a fairy tale theme revolved around matching adopters with their pet. Adoption counselors will be on site to assist with adoptions and discuss the importance of adopting an animal that best fits a person’s lifestyle.
“Our goal for this event is to find permanent homes for the many cats, dogs and small animals at our shelter,” said Samantha Luhmann, community outreach coordinator. “By having honest conversations with adopters about the realities of pet ownership, we’re better able to do that.”
Adopters that are sure about adoption are encouraged to bring all vaccination records of any current pets, a cat carrier and/or leash with them to the shelter. Those who have a dog at home may bring him or her to introduce the canines prior to adoption.
Adoption fees for all cats and kittens will be $11. The cost of small animals will be waived. Dogs will remain the same at $150 for spayed and neutered pets and $100 for those not spayed or neutered.
