A statewide water association announced Monday that the city of La Crosse has the best-tasting water in Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin Rural Water Association awarded the city the honor for the third time in 2018, after its previous wins in 2011 and 2014. The contest was held March 28, during the WRWA Technical Conference in La Crosse, where water utilities from around the state submitted samples of their water straight from the tap.
The competition is part of a nationwide “Quality on Tap!” campaign to emphasize the high quality, safety and taste of municipal tap water. Winners of state taste contests will compete in a national contest at Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. The event is part of the Rural Water Rally, an annual legislative event for the 48 state affiliates of the National Rural Water Association.
The Wisconsin Rural Water Association is a nonprofit organization representing most of the water and wastewater systems in the state.
