From Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, the Children’s Museum of La Crosse will host “Hello from Japan!,” an interactive traveling exhibit that invites families to explore a child-sized Tokyo streetscape and a natural park setting. Museum visitors will learn how time-honored Japanese traditions co-exist with contemporary culture.

The colorful, modern streetscape, inspired by Tokyo’s bustling Harajuku district, welcomes children to sing karaoke, strike a pose in the photo booth, serve up a popular Japanese meal, and design adorable mascots for their friends and family. A beautiful bridge at the end of the streetscape leads from the contemporary, urban setting to a more tranquil, Shinto shrine park, which explores ancient, nature-based traditions. Visitors will be encouraged to appreciate their own local, natural environments after they explore the crawl-through forest, visit the Wishing Tree and meet some ancient Japanese spirits.

The Children’s Museum of La Crosse is located at 207 5th Ave. S. Hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday noon to 5 p.m. Regular admission is $7 per person (infants and members free.) Learn more at
