The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Houston County will be Aug. 3 at the Hokah Fire Station
Cancer survivors, caregivers, volunteers and community members will unite for the annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Houston County in an effort to free the world from the pain and suffering of cancer.
Funds raised help the American Cancer Society provide free information and support for people facing the disease today.
It funds cancer research that will help protect future generations. During Relay For Life events, members of each team take turns walking or running around the track or path. Teams participate in fundraising in the months leading up to the event.
The event will be 6 p.m. Aug. 3 to 4 a.m. at the fire station at 9 Mill St. Hokah.

The Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest fundraising event to save lives from cancer. A total of 72 services were provided by the American Cancer Society in Houston County in 2016.
There is currently approximately $7 million in American Cancer Society research grants in Minnesota and $420 million nation wide. These services could not be funded without the generosity of the community and events such as Relay For Life.
