The La Crescent High School boys hockey team finished its regular season with a two-game winning streak by scoring twice in the third period of a 4-3 win over Windom on Feb. 17.
Junior Alex Boudreau broke a 2-2 tie by opening the third period with a power-play goal, and junior Lucas Wieser padded the lead less than one minute later off an assist from senior Mason Holzer.
Boudreau also scored the first goal of the game less than one minute after faceoff on his team’s home ice.
La Crescent converted two of three chances on the power play and held Windom to one power-play goal on six opportunities to help itself take a 7-16 record into the postseason.
Junior Gavin Christianson had 45 saves against Windom and won his seventh game in goal.
Boudreau’s 12 goals and 22 points led La Crescent during the regular season.
His 10 assists also tied senior Josh Hackworth for the team lead.
The start of the Lancers’ MSHSL tournament was pushed back past the County News deadline due to icy weather at the beginning of the week.

Junior Thomas Kiesau scored the winning basket off an offensive rebound with 3 seconds left, then ended the game with a steak as the Lancers recorded a regular-season sweep of the Trojans on Feb. 16.
Zach Todd scored 17 points, and Luke Schwartzhoff added 10 for La Crescent, which also beat Rushford-Peterson 49-48 in overtime on Dec. 19.
Kiesau ended up with eight points for La Crescent (13-9, 12-3), which won for the third time in five games.

SIMLEY, Minn. — The Lancers won seven matches, but Pine Island won five matches by pin and two others by forfeit on Feb. 15 to advance in the section meet. Joey Schreier (106), Bryce Duffy (113), Dylan Worrel (145), Ty Mallicoat (152), Colton Jorgenson (170), Clayton Jorgenson (182) and Zach Bolyard (285) won for La Crescent.
