Fire destroyed a semi last week on Interstate 94 in the town of Millston in Jackson County.

The driver, Prentice Brown of Atwood, Illinois, told authorities he heard a pop before pulling over and seeing fire under the hood July 3.

Atwood was unable to put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher.

Firefighters were on the scene for 90 minutes but weren’t able to save the truck, which was carrying dog food and kitty litter.

Black River Falls firefighters were assisted by the Town of Lincoln (Warrens) Fire Department. Wisconsin State Patrol and Jackson County Sheriff’s Department conducted traffic control. I-94 west bound was closed for a short time while the fire was extinguished and traffic was rerouted onto Hwy. 12 in Millston.
