On Tuesday, Sept., 11, 2018, Beverly Clarice (Koepcke) Wells was called to her heavenly home at the age of 102 years. Beverly was born in La Crosse, June 19, 1916, to George and Alma (Johnson) Koepcke. She attended La Crosse Logan High School and graduated in 1934.

She was united in marriage to Wesley Russell Wells June 16, 1938, in La Crosse and they settled down on the North Side of La Crosse and began to raise their family. Wesley and Beverly were blessed with five children.

After most of her children were grown Beverly decided to begin working outside their home. Her first job was at a local grocery store, Freddie’s Food Market and she later worked as a receptionist for Dr. John Sevenants.

Beverly and Wesley enjoyed being part of the Happy Twirlers square dancing club and helping out at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, where Beverly taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was an active member of the Eastern Star and she had the opportunity to serve as their Worthy Matron. She spent many years as a volunteer in the pastoral care department at Gundersen-Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse. She enjoyed music and never missed an episode of Lawrence Welk. One of her favorite sayings was, “a smile is cheap, you give it away for free and you get it for free.”

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Bonnie Bell Koepcke; her husband, Wesley, who died in 1989, after a long illness; her brother, Donald Koepcke; her daughter, Barbara Lee (Wells) Molledahl; and her daughter, Judith Ann (Wells) Sapio. She was also preceded in death by three dear sisters-in-law; and a brother-in-law.

Beverly is survived by three sons, Timothy (Janice) Wells of La Crescent, Minn., George (Suzanne) Wells of Davenport, Iowa, the Reverend John (Julie) Wells of Fitchburg, Wis.,; and a son-in-law, Patrick Sapio of Hurricane, Utah. She is also survived by a sister, Elaine Stevens of Carson City, Nev.; a brother, Robert Koepcke of West Salem; and former sons-in-law, Bill Lathrop and Jim Molledahl.

She is further survived by 14 grandchildren, Bill (Dorothy) Lathrop, Kathy (Mark) Miskovik and Brian (Shelly) Lathrop; Carleen Lawrynk and Paul Wells (Brenda); Anne (Steve) Hampton, Daniel Wells, Michael (Leslie) Wells and Amanda(David) Krey; James “J” Molledahl and Leah (Rodney) Hughes; Matthew Wells, Anna (Chris) Crawford and Aaron (Jane) Wells; and great-grandchildren, Megan, Grace and Ethan Wells; Rachel and Gwen Lawrynk; Alex, Timothy and Braydon Molledahl; Ashley Underwood, Heather Hughes; Taylor Wells; Avery, Owen and Lola Crawford; Simon Wells; and one great-great-granddaughter, Katrina Underwood. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Bruce Bennett, Janice Bennett, Jim Bennett; Robert Koepcke Jr. and Carol Koepcke.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at the Dickinson Funeral, at 809 Gillette St., in La Crosse. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service. Pastor Karen Bankes will officiate and burial will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery, La Crosse.
