Donna Lou Roeske made it back home Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018. She fought long and hard to recover from a prolonged medical illness that began in June of this year.
Donna was born April 17, 1935, to Louis and Lorna Gray in Tomah. She graduated from Tomah High School in 1952 and it was there that she met her lifelong companion, Lon. They were married June 11, 1955. They spent 62 years together, before Lon passed away in 2016. They had three children, Cal (wife, Melissa), Jad (wife ,Julie) and Roi (husband, Dan).
Donna was amazingly creative and gifted in floral design. She made Christmas ornaments, floral arrangements for weddings and loved to plan birthday parties. Many people suggested that she should have started a Flower Store. She loved arts and crafts.
Donna was interested in a career in nursing and became a medical assistant for a doctor in Tomah, after high school. She moved to Westby, with the family in 1966 and worked as a stay at home mom for several years. As the children got older, she went back to work and got a job in banking at the Westby Credit Union. Donna worked there until retirement.
Family was very important to Donna. She treasured her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her three children, she is survived by eight grandchildren, Elizabeth and Rachel Roeske in Eagan, Minn., Gabe, Hannah and Sam Roeske in Eau Claire, Wis., and Kye, Paxton and Breeley Gluch in Altoona, Wis.
She worked hard to make us all feel loved and cared for. We will miss her but know she is finally back with Lon and Jesus.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Valley Brooke Church, located at 412 S Barstow St., Eau Claire, 54701.
Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Altoona is assisting the family. Online condolences may be shared at www.cremationsociety-wi.com.
