VIOLA — Ellen J. Gridley, 59, of Viola passed away peacefully at home Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, after a brief battle with Glioblastoma cancer.
She was born Nov. 16, 1958, at the Richland Center Hospital, the daughter of Eldon and Marlene (Long) Storer. After graduating from Richland Center High School, she began working at O’Bryan’s. On Feb. 11, 1979, Ellen married Mike Nelson and had two daughters. Following her employment at O’Bryan’s for over 20 years, she started working at Rockwell Automation and worked there for 18 years, until her diagnosis with cancer. While working at Rockwell, Ellen met her husband, David Gridley and they enjoyed 15 years together. Ellen enjoyed knitting, cross stitching, baking and cooking. She also enjoyed making quilts for her grandchildren. Ellen’s greatest joy were her grandchildren and the time she was able to spend with them.
Ellen is survived by her husband, David Gridley of Viola; mother ,Marlene (Ron) Curtis of Viola; children, Angela (Larry) Barreau of La Valle, Wis., Stacy (Jamie) Laeseke of Richland Center; grandchildren, Ava and Olivia Barreau, Lilly, Hunter and Jensen Laeseke; siblings, Joyce (Mike) Stambaugh of Marion, Ind., John (Chris) Storer of Richland Center; mother-in-law, Helen Gridley; sisters-in-law, Mary (Terry) Kettle and Tracey Gridley; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ellen was preceded in death by her father ,Eldon Storer and her grandparents.
Celebration of life services were held Monday, Sept. 10, at the Pratt Memorial Chapel, 120 North Park St., Richland Center. Burial followed in the Richland Center Cemetery. A visitation was held at the Pratt Memorial Chapel Sunday, Sept. 9 and again Monday, Sept. 10, before the time of the service.
