PLUM CITY, Wis./HOLMEN — Gabriel F. Sallander, 36, of Plum City, formerly of Holmen, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017.

He was born in La Crosse, June 2, 1980, to Peter and Patricia (DeVries) Sallander.

Gabe was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying duck and pheasant hunting in North Dakota and fishing, especially trout fishing, in the trout streams of Wisconsin. He (sparingly) shared his wonderful smoked trout with family. He loved being in the woods in springtime, camping with his family, and sharing his knowledge of the outdoors with his stepdaughters and nieces. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and playing pool in several leagues, winning many tournaments.

Gabe was a loving husband to Diane and a wonderful, devoted father to his stepdaughters, Brook and Ashley. He was also the fun uncle to his nieces, Ashlyn and Eva. He brought silliness into all their lives and knew how to be a kid with them. He taught them all how to catch and clean crayfish, along with a few other things their mothers probably did not fully appreciate. He and the girls rigged up a huge spider in the tree outside their camper so they could drop it on all the unsuspecting tubers going down the river. They had many hours of enjoyment from that.

Known for his witty comebacks, Gabe was also a prankster, never to be outdone by his brothers, Bill and Joe, during their many adventures together. They were truly the three musketeers, all for one and one for all.

Gabe was a thoughtful, loving son to his parents, Pete and Pat. He knew how to have fun and brought laughter and joy into the lives of his entire family and his many, many friends. We can see his sparkling eyes as he continues smiling upon us. Gabe will live on in our hearts and be forever cherished.
