ONALASKA — Gary Russell Baker, 73, of Onalaska passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born April 26, 1945, to Orlando and Lenora (Anderson) Baker. On July 31, 1965, he married his high school sweetheart, Susan Harper.
Gary was an avid Ford man. He liked spending time at his shop, Gary’s Repair Service. He enjoyed building things, working on cars, snowmobiling, NASCAR, drinking PBR and he loved boating, but hated the water.
Gary is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susan; his three children, Jeff (Tami) Baker, Andy (Mandy) Baker, Katie (Craig) Kohlmeier; his eight grandchildren, Julia (Shorty), Carlie, Marissa, Taylor and Brandon Baker and Shane, Ben and Nick Kohlmeier;
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Fred Albers; mother-in-law, Lucille Albers; and his brother-in-law, Doug Harper.
We would like to thank all the doctors and nurses from Gundersen Lutheran for all the years of care for Gary. A special thank you to Debbie Baker, for the special care you gave to Gary, you were his favorite.
A funeral service will be held for Gary at 11 a.m. Friday, July 13, at Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 401 Main St., Onalaska, with Pastor Scott Skogen officiating and burial will be at the Onalaska Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5 until 7 p.m Thursday, July 12, at the funeral home and again from 10 a.m. until time of services Friday.
