She was born on Nov. 10, 1914, in Milwaukee to Julius and Bertha (Bueschke) Tews, shortly after her family emigrated from the German-speaking area of Poland.

Together they followed calls to congregations in Madison, Rock Springs, Wis., and Bangor. Three children were born to the family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, who brought much joy to her family.
