VIROQUA — Joyce E. Sheldon, 78, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at the Vernon Manor in Viroqua.

She was born Nov. 24, 1939, to Albert and Grace (Turner) Bolstad. She married Howard Sheldon April 2, 1960, and separated in 2000. They were farmers for many years. She retired from farming in 2000 and then worked at Vernon Manor for many years. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She headed up the 4H food stand at the Vernon County Fair, for many years and was an active member of Two Ridges Homemakers. The lefse making fundraiser for homemakers was always a favorite activity. She always enjoyed her grandchildren and they always enjoyed her endless supply of ice cream. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and caregiver and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children, Brenda (Mark) Bentzler and Daniel (Nettie) Sheldon; grandchildren, Josh and Casey Kirking, Aaron (Vai), Noah, Lukas Bentzler, Bryany (Justin) Everson, Michael Sheldon and Jessica (Seth) Young; great-grandchildren, Spencer Kirking, Lilly and Ellie Everson. She is also survived by Howard Sheldon; as well as many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Jeanette Hohn, Donald Bolstad and Arthur Bolstad; and brothers-in-law, Lloyd Lavold and Norval Miller; as well as other family and friends.

A public visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at the Thorson Funeral Home in Viroqua, with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m. A private family service will be held with burial in the Viroqua Cemetery.
