Marlene Iona Lothen, 80, of Viroqua, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2018.
She had been a resident of Vernon Manor since February 2016.
Marlene was born in the town of Harmony, to Ernest and Martha (Volden) Helgeson Jan. 10, 1938. She was united in marriage to Arden C. Lothen Oct. 27, 1956; they had two children. After farming a few years west of Viroqua, they moved to town. She enjoyed her employment at Jeffery’s Dry Cleaners and also worked at Vernon Memorial Hospital. Marlene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church; previously active in the ladies aid and Sarah Circle. She enjoyed antiques and gardening.
Marlene is survived by her two children, Arvid of rural Westby and Naomi (Mrs. Joe) Boss of rural Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arden in 2007; and two brothers, Elman and Armin Helgeson.

Funeral services were Thursday, Sept. 6, at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua. Pastor Pete Beckstrand officiated with burial following at Viroqua Cemetery. Friends mayed call during a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. before the service.
