BLACK RIVER FALLS — Irma Lorraine (Legatt) Meyer, 87, passed away peacefully Nov. 12, 2016, at her home in Black River Falls, under the excellent care of Black River Memorial Hospice.
Irma was born April 27, 1929, in St. Cloud, Minn., to John and Louise Legatt, the fourth of eight children. Irma met her love and partner in life, Bill Meyer, when he spotted her in a group of mutual friends at a local ballroom dance club and asked her to dance. They married in 1951, and raised four children. Irma pursued an active life that included baking, sewing, traveling, walking, cross country skiing, golfing, and of course, ballroom dancing with Bill. Irma’s greatest pride and joy in life was her close-knit family, and the special bond maintained throughout the years among her children and their spouses, that she felt could not be matched. This made her so very proud.
Irma is survived by her loving husband, Bill; daughter, Jo Anne (Terry Furlong) Meyer, son, Stephen (Becky) Meyer, son, Michael Meyer, daughter, Susan (Doug) Provisor; and grandchildren, Kyle, Dylan and Devan Meyer; as well as her brother, Richard; and sisters, Betty Lou and Elaine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Louise Legatt; and siblings, Jack, Marie, Jeanette and Bernard.
A very special thank you to Mary Nordahl for her guidance in helping Irma through her final journey.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at Torgerson’s Funeral Home, Black River Falls.
Private burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Black River Falls.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Irma’s memory to Jackson County Interfaith Caregivers, Inc., P.O. Box 354, Black River Falls, WI 54615.
