Patricia Ann Fleming (Fox), 80, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, from the effects of Alzheimer’s disease.
Patricia was born in La Crosse, Sept. 26, 1937. Patricia was caring mother, grandmother and sister. Patti was a gracious, outgoing person who always put others first. A high school English teacher in Muscoda and Whitefish Bay, Wis., she later returned to La Crosse, where she completed a Master’s degree in college student personnel at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. In La Crosse, she was an active member in the American Association of University Woman, Dubna Sister City Society, area coordinator for Special Olympics and owner of The Gift Basket on Main Street. A believer in the importance of education to advance and enrich oneself, Patti was a graduate of Marquette University, along with her advanced degree from UW-L. Patti was a devout Catholic and regularly attended church at the Cathedral in La Crosse.
Patti was preceded in death by her husband, Peter V. Fleming I; her father, Dr. James C. Fox; and her mother, Harriet Beckman Fox Olson. She is survived by her son, Peter V. Fleming II; daughter-in-law, Mlada Khudoley; granddaughter, Elizabeth Fleming of Minnetonka, Minn.; and by her brothers, Michael (Maryfaith) of Minneapolis and John of Seattle.
A funeral Mass in memory of Patti will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, in the Marian Chapel at the Cathedral of St. Joseph of the Workman, with Monsignor Charles Stoetzel officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at the Catholic Cemetery on Losey Blvd., and a short reception will follow the burial back at the church.
