ONALASKA — Robert “Bob” L. Smith, 75, of Onalaska passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse.
He was born March 18, 1942, in La Crosse to Donald and Dorothy (Briggs) Smith. He attended Logan High School, graduating in 1960. He later served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1963. Bob went to work for Gateway Foods in February 1964 and worked there for 39 and a half years. On April 2, 1966, Bob married Bonnie Pfaff at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bangor and they were blessed with three children.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie; three children, Michael and his children, Hannah and Gaven of Holmen; Darrin (Andrea) and their children, Fredrick and Evan of Pueblo, Colo.; and Sally (J. Dobbins) and their children, Jaxon, Jalyn and Jansen of Onalaska. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Marilyn Leavitt); and half-sisters, Jill Zuberbier and Jackie Wavra; half-brothers, Chris and Paul Smith; nieces; nephews; a brother-in-law, James (Darlene) Pfaff; and sister-in-law, Karen (Tom) Larson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandmother, Charlotte.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 12, at First Lutheran Church, 410 Main St., Onalaska. Pastor Jason Stanton will officiate and burial will be in Onalaska Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 11, at Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 401 Main St., Onalaska, and again from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Lutheran Church, Onalaska.
