Sister Lucille Kleinheinz, Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration, 103, died Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Villa St. Joseph, La Crosse.
Sister Lucille was born to Joseph and Teresa (Hildebrand) Kleinheinz Oct. 23, 1911, in Madison, Wis. She entered St. Rose Convent in 1925. Sister Lucille was an elementary teacher for seven years and high school teacher for 28 years in Iowa and Wisconsin, including 18 years teaching English and Latin at Aquinas High School. After earning a master’s degree in library science, she continued working as librarian at Aquinas for 23 more years until her retirement in 1992. Sister Lucille moved to St. Rose Convent in 2001, and to Villa St. Joseph in 2011.
Sister Lucille is survived by her Franciscan community; one brother, the Rev. Joseph Kleinheinz, Merrill, Wis.; three sisters, Jane (Duane) Cumberland, Wausau, Wis., Celine Persak, Atwater, Colo., Eileen (Tom) Lopuszynski, Ashtabula, Ohio; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and six sisters, Sister Clarice Kleinheinz (d. 2004), Elizabeth, Eleanor, Anna Mae, Lauretta and Verneta; and one brother, Gerald.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at St. Rose Convent. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Mary of the Angels Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, in the chapel. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse.
