WEST SALEM — Sydney D. Raymer, 90, of West Salem died Friday, March 2, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse.
Syd was born Feb. 7, 1928, in, Bradley, S.D., to John and Florence (Jones) Raymer. He married Phyllis Weber Aug. 15, 1964, in Caledonia, Minn. Sydney was a lifelong farmer, first as his father’s right-hand man growing up on the farm and then for many years on his own in the town of Hamilton. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends at Krome’s, talking with people and reading.
He is survived by two brothers, Robert and Arlyn (Daisy) Raymer; three sisters, Rosemary Zeasman, Janet (John) Rusch and Nancy (Dale) Mortimer; a brother-in-law, Merlin Wehrs; a stepson, Kenneth Kuhlman; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a brother, John Raymer; two sisters, Joyce Duffrin and Dorothy (Merlin) Wehrs; two sisters-in-law, Kathy Raymer and Bonnie Raymer; and two brothers-in-law, Jim Zeasman and Norman Duffrin.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Jostad Chapel, West Salem. Burial will follow in Neshonoc Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to time of services.
