Eleven years ago the importer of New Age White created “The Tincho” with an effervescent white blend of wine over the rocks with a fresh squeeze of lime.
This Argentinian blend of bonarda (70 percent) and malbec would be the equivalent of a wine spritzer. The fermentation process is halted by centrifuge, leaving a lower-alcohol, (6 percent) very sweet wine with the same residual sugar content (108 grams per liter) as a can of Coke.
If you like the sweet taste of berries and cherries in a semi-sparkling glass, look no further. It’s not our palate preference, but some will love it.
Sherry: “A strong bouquet of concord grape. Light-bodied, sweet, grapey and a little frizzante.” (2.5 stars out of 5)
Chris: “A sweet jam bouquet with flavors of concord grape and strawberry.” (2.75 stars out of 5)
Available from $8 to $11.
