Winemakers may claim there’s a bit of magic involved in their craft but few also claim to be a water witch.
Marc Mondavi — son of Peter Mondavi Sr., — says he has the ability to dowse for underground water using divining rods. We can’t vouch for that, but we can certainly declare that he knows how to make excellent wine.
This inky-dark blend of zinfandel (54 percent), cabernet sauvignon (23 percent), petite sirah (21 percent) and petit verdot (2 percent) is deep, rich, complex and balanced with red fruit, berry and spice.
