Never say never when it comes to making wine.

This California wine started in the early 1990s as an experiment — blending chenin blanc and viognier — two varietals that never share the same bottle in France because they are traditionally grown on opposite sides of the country.

By combining early harvest chenin blanc with later harvest viognier, Pine Ridge developed a wine with brisk and bright freshness that features melon, orchard and citrus fruit. A delicious companion to salads, seafood or even spicy Asian fare.

Sherry: “Citrus lemon and lime bouquet, lemon and lime flavors and an almond finish.” (3.5 stars out of 5)

Chris: “A floral and lime bouquet with flavors of apricot, grapefruit and delicate citrus, with a hint of almond.” (3.75 stars out of 5)

Available from $11 to $14.
