When it comes to the bedroom, cozy is king in modern cottage decor. Stick with fresh and current textiles, but mix up the patterns and colors for a more eclectic look. Pile on the blankets and pillows, creating a lush bed that calls out your name.

A great way to incorporate cozy cottage style is to mix up textures and patterns for a comforting and handmade feel. A cotton comforter with a soft woven blanket and embroidered pillows makes a room feel like it’s been put together over time rather than staged.

Keep walls bare in terms of color — white or neutral clapboard automatically brings cottage style to mind. But don’t leave them blank. Display knickknacks to provide texture and personality. Old maps, vintage photos, dried flowers and other antique items can all be displayed on a bedroom wall for a cottage-style gallery. Find a vintage stool for a nightstand or try sanding down your current nightstand to create a well-worn look.
