GALESVILLE — A 22-year-old Melrose woman was arrested for methamphetamine possession and child neglect after a traffic stop in Trempealeau County on Wednesday.
According to the Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department, a sheriff's deputy stopped a vehicle driven by Betheny Stensven on Hwy. 54/93 within the city limits of Galesville. Three children from ages 1 to 5 were in the back seat.
The deputy deployed his K-9 partner, Luke, who alerted the deputy to the presence of drugs in the vehicle. In a search assisted by the Trempealeau County Police Department, deputies and officers located a methamphetamine substance along with drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
Trempealeau County Department of Human Services assisted with the stop and secured care for the children, while Stensven and a 27-year-old male passenger, Joseph A. Roberts of Albert Lea, Minn., were transported to the Trempealeau County Jail.
Roberts was arrested for bail jumping. He's facing misdemeanor domestic abuse charges in Jackson County.
Stensven faces a felony charge of meth possession, and misdemeanor charges of drug paraphernalia possession and child neglect.
