SPARTA -- State officials are investigating after a Monroe County Sheriff’s deputy fatally shot a man Sunday in Sparta.

Deputies, along with Sparta police, responded to a domestic violence call about 10 a.m. at 1005 St. Anne St., where they found a male suspect armed with a knife threatening a woman’s life. A sheriff’s deputy shot the man, who died at the scene.

The man’s name has not been released.

The deputy, who has not been identified, was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation led by the Wisconsin Department of Justice.

I do question the sanity of those who click the "funny" icon.

Hey19

How do you feel about those who comment on those who click on the "funny" icon?

I feel bad for the officer who was forced into this position. Hope he knows he did his job well and saved the woman's life.

if that idiot had a knife aimed at any female in my life, I'd shoot him right between the eyes, before he could blink.

I wish you all knew the situation and the family, maybe then you'd learn to keep your rude comments to yourself! My close friend lost her son and 2 yiung children lost thier father. I hope you all never have to go thru anything like this....

Agree with CJ 100% on bodycams, I’d think every officer would insist on wearing one. Well, unless....

Alcohol O.D.s beat out opioid o.d.s last year in the state.
Drinkin"s OK though.
Bet the dude didn"t remember a thing,
and the wife will probably miss him.

Guilty til proven Innocent

Apparently the officers in that area don't know how to use the "NON-LETHAL" tools (weapons) they have. How many officer shootings does this make now???

What part of "threatening a woman's life" do you not understand? Probably had knife to her throat.

Domestic disturbances are some of the worst situations police can be in. Too many variables. And many of these are fueled by alcohol and/or drugs.

CJ

Your vast background of either military or law enforcement is? There isn't a cop locally, I'd certainly hope, that wants to kill anyone if they don't have to. Personally I think all cops should be required to have a working body camera it would save a lot of time and hassle for each side.

Nastysmell

Guess he will not do that again. Bring a knife to a gunfight!
