Prosecutors Monday charged a 50-year-old man with having sex with a 17-year-old runaway who was being trafficked.
The teen told a La Crosse police investigator that she met Daniel Heintz, who does not have a permanent address, in mid-summer while she was in the care of William Gerrish, according to the complaint filed in La Crosse County Circuit Court.
Heintz gave Gerrish drugs after intercourse with the girl. He is charged with benefiting from trafficking of a child and sexual intercourse with a child.
Prosecutors charged Gerrish, 56, of La Crosse with seven crimes last month after he was arrested driving to eastern Wisconsin with the teen.
The girl said Gerrish provided for her after she ran from her foster home and that he had sex with her on multiple occasions. The girl also said Gerrish wanted to make money by having her work as a stripper at bachelor parties.
Gerrish is jailed on a $50,000 cash bond and Heintz on a $10,000 cash bond.
