A Sparta man serving probation for sexually assaulting a woman in Monroe County three years ago faces new charges that accuse him of assaulting her in La Crosse County.

In a late 2015 interview with police, the victim said Elijah Burks, 20, repeatedly forced sexual contact, battered her and strangled her to unconsciousness, according to the complaint filed Wednesday in La Crosse County Circuit Court.

In June 2015, Burks and another man simultaneously assaulted the woman at a La Crosse house after Burks slammed her to the ground and threatened to kill her, according to the complaint.

Burks forced her to have sex with another man that day.

The victim also said Burks forced oral sex in July 2015 after punching her, according to the complaint.

Prosecutors charged Burks with two counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of second-degree sexual assault.

Burks sexually assaulted the woman at a house in Sparta on Nov. 1, 2015, after punching her and covering her face with a pillow when she fought him, according to the complaint.

He was placed on two years of probation and entered into a three-year diversion agreement in that case early this month.
