EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — A Kansas man was punched in the face by the bride, police say, after he crashed a wedding reception in Eau Claire over the weekend and inappropriately touched two girls.

William A. Dickinson, 25, of Burlington was charged Monday in Eau Claire County Court with a felony count of physical abuse of a child, two misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct.

A $1,000 cash bail was set for Dickinson, who cannot have contact with girls, drink alcohol or enter taverns.

Dickinson returns to court March 5.

According to the criminal complaint:

Dickinson and a co-worker were drinking at the bar of the Best Western Hotel, 3340 Mondovi Road, on Friday night when they befriended a guest from a wedding reception being held at the hotel.

The co-worker told police he and Dickinson then went to the dance in hopes of meeting women.

Dickinson tried dancing with an 18-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl and touched them in an inappropriate manner.

A 14-year-old girl saw the touching and confronted Dickinson. He pulled the girl’s hair hard enough to cause the girl pain.

Dickinson told police he knew he was crashing someone’s wedding.

He said a lot of people were coming up to him angry, and he did not understand why.

Dickinson said as he was walking away, he was pushed from behind. He turned around and punched the first person he saw.

Dickinson said the bride eventually came over and he apologized to her, saying he hoped he didn’t ruin her party.

Dickinson said the bride then punched him in the face. He said he probably deserved it.
