The deep political divide that exists in our country seems to be widening in these weeks before the November midterm elections. On social media, at family gatherings, at workplace water coolers, emotions and tensions are escalating.

All those in need of a safe, welcoming place to honestly and respectfully express their feelings are invited to a free Pre-Election Listening Session from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at the Franciscan Spirituality Center, 920 Market St.

Facilitators are Audrey Lucier, FSC director, and Steve Spilde, FSC associate director/spiritual director.

“All are welcome — no matter where you fall on the political spectrum — to share your thoughts, strive to understand others' viewpoints and look for signs of hope, courage and healing,” Lucier said.

The event is free, but registration is required. Please call 608-791-5295 or visit
