FSC connects caregivers for support, resource

  • 0

Caring for a loved one or friend can be exhausting, confusing and lonely.

The Franciscan Spirituality Center, 920 Market St., is strengthening the bonds formed between local caregivers with a new monthly gathering called Caregivers Connect.

The first gathering will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 11, with a theme of “Embracing Transitions.” The Nov. 15 meeting will focus on “Finding Your Heart in the Holidays.”

Each session will include a brief presentation on a caregiving topic, sharing of concerns, information on community resources, information about self-care and lunch.

Susan Moss, chaplain and bereavement coordinator for Saint Jude Hospice in La Crosse, will facilitate the meetings. Guest speakers will share on various topics throughout the year.

“When we offered the initial caregivers support group this summer, response was overwhelmingly positive,” said Audrey Quanrud, FSC director. “But the group wanted to expand the discussion topics and have more of an opportunity to socialize and enjoy a meal. We are so pleased to be able to offer caregivers, whether they are helping a parent, a child, spouse or friend, an opportunity to meet others walking the same path and learn from each other.”

Cost is $25. Please register online at or call 608-791-5295.
