WINONA, Minn. — A La Crescent man faces prostitution charges after a Winona County Sheriff’s Department sting operation.

Brian Michael Selke, 44, was arrested Thursday at his home by deputies exectuting a search warrant, Chief Deputy Ron Ganrude said.

On Aug. 21, Selke responded to online ads placed by law enforcement that appeared to offer sex for sale by a 15-year-old girl. Officers posing as the girl had multiple contacts with Selke to negotiate time, place and price for sex, Ganrude said.

Selke on Friday made his first appearance in Winona County District Court, charged with attempting to hire a 13- to 15-year-old for prostitution, a felony. Unconditional bail was set for Selke at $20,000.

The arrest is the latest in a string related to prostitution stings in the county.
