No one was injured when a heater on a La Crosse Municipal Transit bus caught fire early Thursday in the town of Campbell.

Six people, including the driver, evacuated the bus about 7:30 a.m., Campbell Fire Chief Nate Melby said.

Firefighters found the bus full of smoke at Goddard and La Crescent streets and extinguished a small fire. Another bus transported displaced riders.

The fire department cleared the scene about 8 a.m.
