FILE -- police car

A Viola motorcyclist was injured Sunday night when he crashed into the back of an Amish buggy in rural Monroe County.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s office, 22-year-old Jerrand White was southbound on Hwy. 131 just before 10:30 p.m. when his 1996 Honda hit the buggy northeast of Wilton.

White was thrown from the bike, which came to rest inside the buggy, ejecting driver William Borntreger, 22, and passenger Susie Borntreger, 21, both of Wilton.

White, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later transferred to Gundersen Medical Center in La Crosse, where he was listed in fair condition Monday. The buggy passengers received minor injuries but declined treatment.

The buggy was equipped with rear lights and a slow-moving-vehicle warning.

The sheriff’s department is investigating.
