The bear was part of the company’s participation in that winter celebration, even riding on a parade float. The 1922 Winter Carnival covered four days in late January and included parades, a ski jumping tournament, ice skating races, street dancing, horse racing at Riverside Park and a toboggan slide in Pettibone Park, according to Tribune files.

This photo was taken in front of the old W. A. Roosevelt building at 230 Front St. N. with the old Milwaukee Railroad Freighthouse (now the Freighthouse Restaurant) in the background.
