Jennifer Leibowitz uploaded a short clip of herself singing on Facebook and came up a winner.
The 18-year-old Viterbo University freshman from Boca Raton, Fla., sent her submission to "Neil Berg's Singing With The Broadway Stars" at the last minute.
"I'm new, I'm a freshman," Leibowitz said. "I've only been here two weeks, and it's been hectic."
But her video rendition of "All Grown Up" from the pop opera "Bare" bested 19 others.
Her reward? She will sing solo lines in the gospel song "Seasons Of Love" from the musical "Rent" with Broadway performers during the finale of Saturday night's "Neil Berg's 100 Years of Broadway" on Viterbo's Mainstage.
Competitors submitted 90 to 120 seconds of themselves singing a Broadway showtune via Facebook, MySpace or YouTube, said Brett Nichols, production manager.
Berg's Broadway-infused revue will tour 70 to 80 cities, Nichols said, but only 30 stops offer the competition aspect.
"It's a great marketing tool, and it gets people in the seats," Nichols said.
The runners up - Emily Weaver, Elena Weaver, Katy Hoppens, Amanda Wright, Matt Barnett, Katy Knutson and Emily Wrobel - will perform as chorus members in the finale.
