The WAFER food pantry in La Crosse will host a block party featuring local musicians, drinks and food available to buy, balloon animal making and other activities from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the facility at 403 Causeway Blvd.

Other than the libations and victuals, the event is free and open to the public, courtesy of sponsors listed on the WAFER website.

Musicians will include Gregg Hall, Paul Leithold, Handsome Animals and Slow No Wake.

Those who attend will be able to tour WAFER’s facility and vehicles and talk with board members and staff.

WAFER is La Crosse County’s largest food pantry, serving the greater La Crosse area. It provides food packages to more than 1,500 families a month. Over the course of a year, it puts food directly on the table for nearly 40,000 people, according to its own headcount.

WAFER also distributed more than 1.3 million meals last year.
