What is your proudest professional accomplishment?

I would say I am proudest of my work I have been doing at Castle Realty. We have been able to undergo an entire brand transformation and really take our brand to the next level, and I have been able to lead that transformation. I feel as though I have been able to really help create a brand that I am extremely passionate about and I am very proud of as well, and I believe our Executive Team and organization feels the same. It is incredibly rewarding being able to see something that I have created get so much attention throughout the community and to have people recognize the new brand and all that it stands for!

Please tell us what community and volunteer activities you’re involved with – and why?

I am personally and professionally involved in multiple community and volunteer organizations throughout the Coulee Region. Some of these organizations and events include Kevin’s Legacy Foundation, Steppin’ Out in Pink, Castle Realty’s Pay It Forward events, The La Crosse Area Chamber Ambassador Committee, the Joy of Sharing event, and The League of the Ridiculous. I am currently serving on the board for Kevin’s Legacy Foundation where we advocate for mental health and a bully-free community through our various events and campaigns. I also serve on the committee for Steppin’ Out in Pink and participate in all of our Castle Realty Pay It Forward events, as well as, assist in the Joy of Sharing event, and I am an active member of The League of the Ridiculous. I am involved in all of these organizations and events because they are all helping people – in some way or form, and that – that is what it’s all about. It’s about supporting one another in our community to make our community the best around.

Tell us what inspired you to be a leader in your organization and in your community.

I was inspired to be a leader by our community. I am not originally from the La Crosse area, but I have been living and working here for over 10 years and this area is unlike any other I have experienced. This community gives so much to one another and really tries to support each other. I think our area puts a large focus on Servant Leadership and if you have ever had the opportunity to hear Tom Thibodeau speak, you can understand why people want to get on board with the idea. I think the Servant Leadership coursework I have experienced and the overall culture of our community continues to inspire me to be the best that I can be – I’m not there yet – but I will continue to work towards that.

What advice would you offer younger leaders to aid their success?

Believe in yourself, advocate for yourself, and always be looking for ways to better yourself so you can translate it to your community and others! I think as a younger leader it’s easy to feel inferior or that you don’t have enough experience to lead. Don’t ever let experience stand in your way – you can lead every single day, but you have to believe in yourself and put in the work. To be a leader you don’t have to maintain a certain title and it doesn’t always have to be in a professional organization. It can be within your community, your niche area or your sphere of influence. You can be a leader and inspire others every day with every interaction you have. And remember, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will NEVER forget the way you made them feel” -Maya Angelou.
