WINONA, Minn. — A Winona man is facing multiple felony charges after chasing another man with a baseball bat Monday night, according to police.

At 10:10 p.m. Monday, Winona police responded to the 500 block of East Third Street on a report of a man chasing another man with a bat, according to the department.

When the officers arrived, the man who had been chased told officers that Arlin Louis Passehl, 57, had been in a verbal argument with him that afternoon. Passehl, who lives in the apartment below the man, came upstairs later with a baseball bat, and when the man opened the door a few inches to talk Passehl pushed his way in and proceeded to smash a television, radio and other items, according to police.

The man fled his apartment, and Passehl chased him down the sidewalk with the bat before returning to his apartment, police said.

Passehl was taken into custody and charges of burglary, assault, and criminal damage to property were referred to the Winona County Attorney’s Office.

Passehl has been convicted of drunken driving, disorderly conduct and domestic assault in the past, according to court records.
