Please don’t close the South Community Library, please. We use it often, mostly with our grandchildren during the summer reading program, and it’s a wonderful resource.
Combined with the use of the playground outside the library, the interesting programs offered at the library and a trip to Ranison Ice Cream & Candy nearby, it’s truly a community resource.
Some of the staff members are dynamic, and children like the variety, stimulation and positive reinforcement offered. This branch library provides all of that in a clean, safe environment.
Librarians lend a hand to people trying to find information or connect to the Internet. The Federal Emergency Management Agency certifies libraries as an essential service — one of the things that get early funding so a community can recover in the event of a natural disaster.
We talk about the importance of strengthening communities. Let’s leverage a strength that already exists and make it better than ever. I would be willing to volunteer if that would help. Let’s keep the South Community Library open.
