      The Reno City Council has approved a $250,000 settlement with an ex-ACLU official who was shot by police with rubber bullets while serving as a legal observer at a 2020 civil rights protest in the wake of George Floyd’s killing. Rebecca Gasca is the ex-deputy policy director for the ACLU of Nevada. She said in a federal lawsuit she was wearing a vest that read “ACLU Observer” on the fringe of the downtown protest when she was injured and her rights violated by police. The settlement approved Wednesday on a 6-1 vote must go before a judge. The city also agreed to discuss potential changes to police policies.
