"This is an extension of the Wisconsin idea, so that we're going to listen to what the dairy industry is asking us to look into," said Dennis Shields, UW-Platteville chancellor. WisconsinEye hosted a Newsmakers panel discussion on the new Dairy Innovation Hub that was included in the 2019-21 state budget beginning on July 1. The $7.8 million funding the research hub will be divided among three UW-System campuses including UW-Madison, UW-Platteville, and UW-River Falls. Shields described the importance of the hub and how his campus will be able to expand on current dairy research and innovation.
