A "direct threat" made to Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore on Wednesday caused the evacuation of the campus and shut down the campus for the day.
Officials at the school were notified at 8 a.m. by local law enforcement of the threat to campus safety.
The school put an alert on its website, telling everyone on campus to leave immediately.
"Students, staff and visitors were evacuated as a precautionary measure," the school said.
At 10 a.m., the school updated its information, saying an individual responsible for the safety threat had been taken into custody by Fennimore Police and the Grant County Sheriff's Office.
Police did not say what type of threat had been made.
The campus will remain closed on Wednesday but will reopen on Thursday.
Southwest Tech, as it is commonly called, is part of the Wisconsin technical college system, which has 16 districts around the state.
