A Mauston man faces criminal charges after police say he was found in possession of child pornography.

Craig Trenshaw, 64, is charged with two counts of possession of child pornography. He faces up to 25 years imprisonment for each charge.

According to the criminal complaint:

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children received a cyber tip regarding the images earlier, in July, 2017.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office issued a subpoena for records to Frontier Communications of America regarding the IP address associated with the images. Frontier indicated the IP address belonged to Craig Trenshaw, who lives in Mauston.

A Juneau County Detective received a cyber tip Dec. 13 regarding a facebook page belonging to Trenshaw. The cyber tip reported two images of child pornography were uploaded.

A search warrant was subsequently issued on Trenshaw’s Mauston residence on Tremont Street.

Upon reaching the residence to execute the search warrant, Trenshaw was asked if he would like to speak to law enforcement. He replied he did and walked out to speak with the detective by his squad car.

Trenshaw admitted to using Facebook, uploading images of child pornography which he described as “simple nudity and not pornographic,” and having images of underage girls on his computer in his bedroom.

A search was performed on the residence. The search yielded a HP computer, a Seagate 500 GB hard drive, a Dell computer, a Toshiba hard drive, an LG cell phone, two 80 GB Samsung hard drives, a 320 GB Seagate hard drive, an Xbox 360, a Gateway computer, a 250 GB Seagate hard drive, a Powercolor R9380, a Samsung Galaxy S3 cell phone, a Cyanogn cell phone, a ZTE cell phone, a 320 GB Seagate hard drive, an HP laptop, a homemade silver computer tower, a 500 GB Western Digital hard drive, a Motorola cell phone and a Samsung Galaxy J3 6.

A Division of Criminal Investigation Digital Forensics Examiner investigated the hard drive located in the HP computer. “Several images” of child pornography were discovered there.

Trenshaw is not currently in the Juneau County Jail. His initial appearance in court is scheduled for Jan. 9 at the Juneau County Justice Center.
