On December 4, Wisconsin state Assembly minority and majority members held separate news conferences to preview their floor session. During their news conferences, Assembly members addressed voter laws. Minority Leader Gordon Hintz (D-Oshkosh) said, "What does suppressing the time that people can vote in the state have to do with equal branches of government...Today is a disgrace as Republican legislators show direct contempt for the voters of our state." Speaker Robin Vos said, "...voter ID, we know that individuals have wanted to get rid of voter ID since we passed it...We do not believe that any one individual should have the opportunity to come in, and with a stroke of a pen, eliminate laws that have been passed by our legislature and found constitutional by our courts."
